About Wyman Sanders, M.D.

Wyman Sanders, M.D., Founder of Optimal Health Management, Inc., concentrates on enhancing lifestyles. His prior experience includes specialties in Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Holistic Medicine, and developing Wellness Programs in the workplace.

Dr. Sanders has been a faculty member of the UCLA School of Medicine since 1970 and is currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and an Associate of the UCLA Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. He has also been a member of the Professional Staff Association of Harbor General Hospital, and was on the Medical Staff of St. John's Hospital, Santa Monica. During his three years of Military Service, between 1961 and 1964, he was Chief of Pediatrics, with a rank of Captain, at the United States Army Hospital in Augsburg, Germany.

Dr. Sanders was co-founder of the Bresler Center Medical Group and its Medical Director. He supervised programs utilizing traditional and alternative treatment modalities including acupuncture, biofeedback, chiropractic, nutrition, guided imagery, homeopathy, massage, movement and exercise therapy, nutrition, psychotherapy, self-management education, stress management, and weight and habit control.

Dr. Sanders received his BA degree in 1954 from Williams College, majoring in Chemistry, and his M.D. degree from the University of Rochester in 1958. He then did an internship and Residency in Pediatrics at the Mass. General Hospital in Boston and became a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University in 1960. In 1966 Dr. Sanders came to UCLA and completed a Residency in Adult and Child Psychiatry. Dr. Sanders is licensed in the State of California.

In 1975, Dr. Sanders was one of the founding members of the Richstone Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Hawthorne, and has served that organization, holding several offices including President of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Sanders has given numerous lectures symposia, panels, and workshops, and has fifteen publications.
