High Blood Pressure Guidelines Updated
Exercise and diet alone are often enough to prevent high blood pressure, even in people who are at high risk for developing hypertension.

That's the message behind new federal guidelines that also downplayed the benefits of some supplements marketed as blood pressure reducers. Among these are both calcium and fish oil supplements.

The new guidelines were published in October 2002, updating those published in 1993. They're available on the National Institutes of Health's Web site, www.nih.gov/, along with recipes and other health advice.
